The different types of links in SEO

As we explained above, for Google crawlers to find your site, they must go through links.But there are different types of links, which do not have the same value or the same role for your SEO.

Internal links

These links form the basic architecture of your site.

These are links that lead from one page of your site to another. For example, from one of your blog posts to one of your product pages.

These links are as important for how to engage your target audience by offering quality content on your digital platforms Internet users who visit your site as they are for Google robots: they allow you to connect your pages together and highlight your most important pages.

So, if you have a page you want to highlight (for example, your “Features” page), link to it from several other pages so Google can understand its importance.

But rest assured: you don’t need to be an SEO pro to create quality internal linking.

Instead, think about the people who will visit your site. Organize your pages to offer them an intuitive and logical experience… Google will appreciate it just as much!

Inbound links

These are links that lead from another site to yours.

Likewise, the higher the authority of a site linking to yours, the more you will benefit from it.

Outbound links

These are links you create to other sites.

Yet today, most SEO experts believe that outbound links play a role, as they indicate quality content organically linked to the rest of the web.

A great example of outbound links to use are sources: for example, a link to Wikipedia or a study you cite in a blog post.

NoFollow VS DoFollow

Finally, we will see that there are two ways to mark a link.

Much has been debated and written about the value of NoFollow links.

For now, you can just assume that DoFollow links are always preferable when building backlinks, but that NoFollow links can still have a positive impact on your SEO.

A balanced mix between these two types of links and therefore to be preferred!
