In the Netherlands! the EU regulation on transparency and targeting of political advertising has direct effect. This means that the rules do not have to be transposed into national legislation! but must be strictly adhered to. The Netherlands has the freedom to introduce stricter rules! as long as they do not conflict with the European frameworks.
What should we take into account in the Netherlands?
1. Limitations on Microtargeting
Dutch legislation restricts the use of sensitive personal data for microtargeting! in line with country email list General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Political parties must explicitly request permission for the use of personal data for targeted advertising.
2. Political Parties Act

This law regulates the access of political parties to the public broadcasters in the Netherlands! especially during election time. This means that political parties! such as during election time! are guaranteed a certain amount of airtime on public television and radio stations! without having to pay for it. This ensures that all parties! regardless of their financial means! have the opportunity to present themselves to the public via the public broadcasters.
